It’s a tough time to be a rugby supporter in Australia right now. Like sharks sniffing blood in the water, media outlets who steadfastly refuse to report or write about rugby have been quick to go to print detailing the latest crisis in administration, coaching or sponsorship, all pushing the narrative of rugby as a dead or dying sport.

Welcome to another edition of the RCV newsletter. It goes without saying that it’s been a
tough year for rugby in Melbourne. People aligned with the Melbourne Rebels – players, staff, fans – have not only lost their rugby team, but in some cases lost their jobs and their connection with rugby. For many, that’s been difficult to process and something that each individual is forced to deal with in their own way.
